Andy comes to us after spending this past season with Ohio University (Athens, OH), where he helped lead them to their second MAC Tournament Championship in four years and 10th title over all. He brings eight years of experience as a collegiate head coach and assistant; as well as a very extensive background at the club level. At Ohio, he coached an AVCA ALL-Region 1st Team award winner, an Honorable Mention award winner, and five Player-Of-the-Week recognitions. They finished 2015 season with a 25-8 record, ranked #3 in NCAA Digs Per Set, and #6 in NCAA Opponent Hitting Percentage and key wins over AVCA nationally ranked #10 Kentucky as well as Xavier and LSU.
Prior to his time at Ohio, Riesenberg was the Head Coach at Lake Erie College (Painesville, OH) where he led all aspects of the coaching process; including recruiting, practices, training, scouting, game prep, management and film. He led LEC to best stats in previous seven years, holding records in the top three spots in every category since the school entered the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). He also guided the team to All GLIAC Academic Excellence in 2012, 2013, 2014 with an average GPA of 3.8. During his tenure in Cleveland, Andy was also the Director of Volleyball for SPIRE Institute (Geneva, OH), running the club, individual and team practices, as well as tournaments for over 1,500 athletes and coaches and 3,000 parents and spectators every weekend.
Riesenberg also served as a Volunteer Assistant Coach and Video Coordinator at Auburn University (Auburn, AL) where he worked primarily in the areas of scouting and film coordination while also assisting with practice planning and day-to-day operations. During his tenure, the Tigers recruited there highest class, ranked 20th in the country.
Before going to Auburn, Riesenberg was the top assistant at Wright State University (Dayton, OH). There he helped lead in all aspects of coaching/training resulting in one All-Midwest Region, three All-Horizon League, and four All-Tournament Team award winners along with multiple Player-of-the-Week nominees. He also recruited/developed five players who finished with Top 10 All-Time WSU career stats while guiding Horizon All League Academic Team 2009-2010, 2010-2011, average GPA of 3.5. During his tenure the Raiders were ranked among the conference leaders in hitting percentage, blocking and kills for middle attackers.
Riesenberg began his collegiate coaching career as the top assistant at the University of Southern Indiana (Evansville, IN). During that 2008 season, he led the Screaming Eagles to eighth in the nation in blocks at 2.43/set and finished 18-15 overall and 9-8 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). He also helped lead USI as they advance to the GLVC championship match for the first time since 2004 with three wins over higher ranked teams to get to the finals including a first round win over Northern Kentucky where they posted 22 blocks against the top seed in the tournament.
Prior to University of Southern Indiana, Riesenberg served as the Director of Volleyball Operations at the MidAmerica Sports Center in Louisville, KY. His duties included directing adult leagues, high school and club tournaments, camps, a youth program, and advertising/promotions for both the club and facilities.
A native of Cincinnati, OH, Riesenberg has coached and promoted club and high school players to schools at the NCAA Division III, II and I levels as well as NAIA. Riesenberg earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Advertising from Mount Saint Joseph University (Cincinnati, OH) in 2003.
