Early Offer FAQ
Q: What is an early offer contract?
A: "Beginning June 1 through July 31, 2021 clubs may offer a contract for the 2021-22 season to players who are members of their club during the current 2020-21 season. Clubs may not offer and players may not accept contracts from any club other than the club they were members of for the 2020-21 USAV Season. More information can be found here, on the OVR website.
If you accept an early offer contract from Mintonette Sports, you are committing to play for Mintonette for the 2021-22 club season and cannot tryout for another club.
National Division Early Offer - Guarantees a spot on a National division team. You will NOT be placed on an American or Regional division team at tryouts.
American Division Early Offer - Guarantees a spot on a National OR American division team. You will NOT be placed on a Regional division team at tryouts.
General Early Offer - Guarantees a spot on a National, American or Regional team. You could be placed on ANY division team (National, American OR Regional) at tryouts.
Q: If an athlete signs an early contract, can he/she try out for other clubs to make a “higher” team?
A: No. An early contract is an agreement that you will not try out or train with other clubs during the contract period. This is an OVR ruling. Players will still tryout with Mintonette and are able to make a "higher" team than their early contract.
Q: If an athlete declines an early contract, can he/she still try out for Mintonette in the fall?
A: Yes. If you decline your early offer now, you can still try out for Mintonette Sports in the fall. If you try out without an early offer contract, there is a chance you do not make a team at tryouts since we never know how many athletes and who will attend tryouts.
Q: Can a general offer be given a spot on any of the teams at tryouts?
A: Yes. A general offer can be placed on a National, American, or Regional division team.
Q: Can an American offer be given a spot on a National team at tryouts?
A: Yes. An American offer can be placed on a National team at tryouts.
Q: How many teams does Mintonette plan to have this season?
A: Click here to see the number of teams we plan to offer at each age group and division.
Q: Do I have to pay the entire deposit now?
A: You can arrange an alternate payment plan with Katie Butz by emailing katie@mintonettesports.com.
Q: Why is the club dues payment schedule different this season?
A: There are a few reasons we've adjusted the payment schedule for this upcoming season. First, there are many up-front costs in club volleyball, such as tournament entry fees, uniforms, etc. These costs are often paid before tryouts. In addition, the club season is busy for EVERYONE! We've adjusted the club dues payment schedule to make it easier for both our admin and your family to get ahead of the game and wrap up accounts before qualifying season and the club's "busy" season.
Q: How many teams will there be at each age division?
A: You can find the tentative list of teams we plan to have for the 2021-22 season here. Since we never know who will show up at tryouts, this list is subject to change. We may adjust the number of teams and divisions to ensure we have the best fit for all players in each age group.
Q: Do you know the details of the teams? Coach, schedule, dues, etc?
A: We currently do not have that information finalized. Our 2021-22 teams will be very similar in schedule and cost to our 2020-21 teams. We will have more definitive details at Open House.
